Downloadable PDF: The Hostess Apron

Do you love to bake – or want to just look like you love to bake? We’ve got just the project for you! Aprons are fun to make and even more fun to wear. This project is a perfect bridge project to take you from beginner to intermediate sewing, and it should help you with techniques common in sewing garments, like installing a waistband, making gathers and pleats as well as hemming.
Complete, illustrated instructions on making pleats, making gathers, finishing your edges using a double fold hem and a mitred corner and installing a waistband are included in this downloadable .pdf file. One pattern for a gathered skirt and one pattern for a pleated skirt are included in this downloadable package. Please note that while these patterns are an ideal accompaniment to our videos, this product is sold stand-alone.

Skills required:
You must know how to thread up a sewing machine, sew 1/2″ seams and pivot corners.  If you would like to make this project but you want more help, check out the online tutorial here.

Materials required:
3/4y woven cotton for the apron skirt
1/4y fusible interfacing for the waistband (available for sale at the studio)
1/2y of contrast fabric (woven cotton) for the pocket, waistband and ties.
Matching polyester thread

***more advanced sewers might want to experiment with other fabrics, but we highly recommend making this project with woven cotton for the first time
